Our journey began in 1977 when Peter Philp, John Newby, and Marty Owen joined forces to create an insurance broking business—hence the name, PNO.
From the start, their expertise was deeply rooted in Transport, Cranes and Construction. They believed in focusing on a few areas and excelling in them, rather than trying to be everything to everyone.
This philosophy continues to drive us today. Though our team has grown to over 60 professionals, we remain committed to having specialised teams that deliver first-class service in specific areas.
We deliver insurance solutions that make commercial sense
A core principle of our founders was to be fierce advocates for our clients while fostering strong, respectful relationships with our insurers. They were also committed to being 100% independently owned, free from ties to insurance companies, consolidators, or private equity firms.
We believe this independence offers tangible benefits to our most important stakeholders—greater care, flexibility, and long-term partnerships.
Although our founders have passed the torch, and the business has matured, we still feel youthful, as if we’re at the start of an exciting journey. We’re confident that PNO will continue to serve our clients and partners for decades to come.
